“Meet & Greet” a one of its kind ‘Engineers Meet’ was organized by ‘SMPL – Retail Marketing’ team on 17th& 18th of August,2013 at Hyderabad. Aimed for learning with fun, this exercise was planned and executed effectively to create a “feel-good” factor amongst the engineers. This enabled to foster a sense of togetherness and bonding with the brand Sujana in general and Sujana Metal Products in particular.

The key objectives of the event:

•To throw light on Brand Sujana, its cutting edge craft and quality positioning.

•To build confidence amongst clientele on various offerings showcasing the product lines and production facilities.

•To keep the target group informed/educated to take the right decision in selection of steel, by providing the learning opportunities about the meticulous manufacturing processes and various quality parameters.

•To Value and Nurture the relationships with the engineers in taking responsible steps to suggest steel to their customers by offering a safe, quality consistent, right priced long-lived steel.

An ensemble of 40 engineers from LEASA (Licensed Engineers, Architects &Surveyors Association) of Kurnool had been invited to partake in this event. Their itinerary was engaged with various activities and sessions spread over the two days. On Aug 17th they visited SMPL factories at Shadnagar, Sadasivpet and Bollaram to understand the production facilities, product lines and the hallmark of Sujana…the stringent quality tests! They also interacted with Plant Engineers, Plant Managers, Production Managers, HR Managers, Marketing Managers among others. The entire sessions were invigorating and matter-of-fact.

By the end of the day they reached Lahari Resorts at Hyderabad. After refreshing themselves as they got assembled at the pool side, they happened to interact with the Group Director – Sri S. Hanumantha Rao, and top brass of SMPL like MD, Sri R.K.Birla, COO Sri Ravi Shekar. The top management ran through the history of the company, product USPs, special recognitions, accreditations, relationships and experiences with various prestigious clients. The knowledge shared from their illustrious experience made the engineers to know on what made Sujana outcast its peers.

Later during the stage talk, Sri G.N.S.Sampath Kumar,Chairman, LEASA said that, “this is a great moment for all of us, we could see the process of steel making and felt so informed about the product that we have been suggesting to customers over years, I am sure that this experience will help us be more informed and become instrumental on suggesting the best steel to our customers”.Sri M. Samanna, General Secretary LEASAexpressed his views by saying “this unique experience gave us a fresh impression about Sujana and its quality consciousness and how it had been positioning itself in the market on par with its competitors like TATA, VSP, SAIL etc.”Later Sri Anwar Basha, one of the teammates said “we feel Sujana, also defines “Good People”, and every individual we interacted was equally good.” Another teammate resonated that, “now our confidence levels are high, we can promote the brand firmly to our customers”. They all echoed in one voice that this meet had raised the bar and made them ‘Responsible Engineers’ that they would like to cherish this forever. The following day i.e. on Aug 18th recommenced with deliberations and closed with mementos distributed to the participants to mark the event. Post lunch they dispersed to Kurnool.

It was a best learning experience for the techies’ in other words they got answers to many a question like...How quality had been the USP of Sujana right from the inception? Story behind the innovation called Smart Steel or tailor made steel? How a commodity like steel had been changed into a service? And so forth. As Sujana entered into retailing recently, the techies excited on the approach and aspects relating to product retailing and what it takes to be successful in retailing.

This unique “Meet & Greet” Engineers Meet was a hit with all the participants. The meet sensitized the techies about Sujana’s contribution to the manufacturing industry with its tremendous opportunities as well as the impending challenges. The idea behind devising such event is to reiterate Sujana’s core values and vision as being aligned to both the individual as well the corporate growth and the same had been met.
